Rush fees for priority depot (carry in) service. - One-business day (24-hour) rush response: $130
- Two-business day (48-hour) rush response: $65
Rush fees are in addition to the repair deposit, regular hourly charges and required parts (if any). Paying a rush fee does not guarantee the repair will be complete, only that the equipment will be evaluated in the time frame specified. Subject to current work load and technician availability, priority service is available Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm. Emergency fees for on-site service. - Server or network support, 4 hour response: $250 plus 2 hour minimum labour charge

Paying an emergency fee does not guarantee a resolution the same day, only that we will respond on-site within 4 business hours. Subject to current work load and technician availability, emergency on-site service is available Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm. Resolution time can only be guaranteed with a support contract that provides for this. Back to Repairs/Upgrades Flat rate service options in detail • Modem installation: This includes the physical installation of the hardware. If the operating system does not contain the necessary driver the technician will install it from the driver CD.
• Hard drive installation and data transfer: This price is based on cloning the original hard drive and swapping it into the machine. The technician will not troubleshoot any software errors on the original drive. The original hard drive must be bootable prior to starting. The original drive will be returned to the customer on completion. *
• Memory/processor upgrade installation: The technician will install the memory or processor and power on the system to check for a successful POST. Once the POST is successful the upgrade is considered complete.
• Scanner installation: The technician will connect the scanner to the PC and load the required software. A test scan will be performed.
• Printer setup/driver installation: The technician will connect the printer and load the printer software if the machine requires it. The printer will be set as the default printer and one test page will be printed.
• Mass storage installation: For installation of floppy, ZIP, CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-RW drives only. This will cover the physical installation of the drive plus any software that comes with it. In the case of a hard drive, partitioning, OS installation and formatting is not included.
• Sound card installation: The technician will remove the existing sound card (if any) and install the new sound card, plus install any software that comes with it. He/She will test to ensure that sound is heard through our test speakers or a set of headphones.
• Application installation: The technician will install each application requested. This does not cover any customization outside of the default installation. OEM Microsoft Office is excluded (OEM Office is installed free of charge if purchased from us with a new computer).
• Desktop or laptop operating system upgrade: The technician will upgrade the existing software and apply any required operating system service packs. If additional memory or disk space is needed to meet the specifications other flat rate charges can apply. The cost for reinstalling, upgrading or replacing applications (including non-essential device drivers) is not included. **
• Desktop PC repair, hardware fault: All hardware faults will be diagnosed and parts replaced as necessary to rectify the problem. Parts and software troubleshooting are not included; replacement parts must be purchased from Computer City if we are able to source them.
• Laser printer repair, personal and small workgroup models: All hardware faults will be diagnosed and parts replaced as necessary to rectify the problem. Parts and software troubleshooting are not included; replacement parts must be purchased from Computer City if we are able to source them.
• Virus removal: The technician will remove any viruses detected during the initial scan. Some viruses can not be removed without damaging applications or system files. If these applications or files need to be reinstalled the normal hourly rate applies. ***
• New PC setup: The technician will do the physical hook up and verify that the printer and other peripherals included in the package are functioning. OEM software such as Microsoft Office, if purchased with the computer, will be installed. Anti-virus software, if purchased with the computer, will be installed and updated. Internet access and email will also be setup If this is a network setup the technician will ensure that the computer is able to communicate with the router and other network devices, and that a default network printer is configured. Data transfer will not be performed, but is available for an extra charge. Training on how to use the computer is not included.
• Data Transfer: A technician will transfer the contents of your My Documents folder from your old computer to your new computer. Only the My Documents folder will be transferred; both computers must be in working order - no troubleshooting will be performed. Customers will need to copy or move all data they want transferred to the My Documents folder prior to the technician setting up for the transfer. Second visits will incur an additional flat rate charge.
• New printer setup: The technician will connect the printer and load the printer software if the machine requires it. For local or directly connected printers the printer will be set as the default printer and one test page will be printed. For network printers, a print queue will be created on the server if we are given the login credentials for the server. Existing login scripts will be modified so that all computers on the network can utilize the new printer. A test page will be printed from one workstation to confirm operation.
• Wireless survey: The purpose of this survey is to give the customer a general idea on how a wireless network will perform in their environment. On conclusion of the survey the technician will recommend to the customer the type and quantity of equipment required in order to achieve the desired coverage.
• Computer cleaning: Access panels will be removed by our technician; the case air path including intake, exhaust and fans will be cleaned. Access panels will be put back in place and the exterior of the case will be wiped clean. ****
